SAFETY ISSUES:
  • Dangerous windows. (Guillotine slams down, heavily! Someone WILL get hurt.)
  • Fire drill procedure for disabled -- no call button in stairwells.
  • N.B. I called to report, but ... CLASSROOM ISSUES (H 206):
  • Clock is missing.
  • Janitors place wastebaskets in pathways -- tripping hazard.
  • Idea: add boards on wall, behind sliders. SCHEDULE ISSUES:
  • No makeup for snow days.
  • Lost another hour due to "survey" !!!
  • Midterm (just before break) - common hour 7-8
  • Internet down; had to do as "takehome".
  • +Fire drill on same day. (See above for safety issue -- wheelchair student remained in stairwell w/o communication) COMPUTER ISSUES:
  • Blocked ports for putty!!
  • Cannot arrange shortcuts on desktop (autoarrange is preset as default)
  • Classroom sw is now in separate folders: browsers, languages, textpad. [[ Request a few more shortcuts, e.g. Processing, Textpad, portable browsers (non-IE), etc. ]] [[ Possibly a script to reconfigure desktop to a few custom layouts, for common courses such as 111, 112, 141 ]] ADJUNCT OFFICE:
  • Computers do not have sw used in classroom
  • Cannot install software (e.g. putty, textpad, compilers)
  • Cannot control desktop layout - icons, folders, etc.
  • Obsolete version of browser. (Not supported for some websites, e.g. Google docs) "This version of Firefox is no longer supported. Please upgrade to a supported browser."
  • No auto-logout; cannot log in another user. (Computer remains locked until power off/on.)
  • Windowshades broken - cannot use during morning sun OFF-CAMPUS (COMMUNICATION) ISSUES:
  • MS Word attachments to email - non-standard format; - requires proprietary products to decode; - not readable on other systems.
