On April 15,1865 only a few weeks after the union
surrender at Apommatox
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a single gunshot
behind the left ear. The mortal wound crossed Lincolns
brain diagonally and came to a stop behind his right eye.
Incredibly, a doctor at the Ford theatre was able to
restart Lincolns heart and he was transported to a nearby
boarding house house. This allowed him to avoid the ridicule
of dying amongst the debauchery of a theatre
on such a holy day as Good Friday.
