M E M O TO: Prof. BAM FROM: me SUBJECT: Final Report DATE: 2017 May 11 Throughout this semester I have been working a paid internship at Lightspeed Networks. Lightspeed Networks is a managed service provider for Information Technology services. I was tasked with various duties throughout this internship with varying degrees of difficulty. I prepared and installed workstations, installed and input settings for time clocks, diagnosed and, if possible, repaired computers, answered help desk phone calls, and input configurations into networking equipment for clients. At the end of the internship I was offered an actual position in the company. I learned much through completing theses tasks. I was familiarized with the software that the clients used at their places of business. Software that I previously was not familiar with. Also, I had to complete workstation preparation and install in a timely matter, so I learned how to budget my time efficiently. I had to learn the proper way to install time clocks and the proper way to input the required settings for the clock. I also learned how to check if a piece of hardware was still under warranty, in order to order a replacement. In my opinion, one of the most important things I learned was how to quickly adapt to filling new positions. At one point I may just be answering help desk phone calls, while later in the day I could be installing computer workstations or inputting configurations into computer network equipment. I had to become a "jack of all trades" in order to successfully complete all of these tasks.
