MEMO Final Report TO: PROF. B.A.M. FROM: LUIS FUENTES SUBJECT: Final Report DATE: 2017, May 4th Dear Prof. Martin. Summary of February: Well in February I started applying to a couple of places such as iNetworks, ZEBRA, VIOTECH SOLUTIONS, LAW OFFICE OF THOMAS TONA, P.C., Norberto Construction, Inc, Pueblo Systems these companies were offering jobs related to the web designing field, I received responses from these places saying that they were reviewing my resume, but after that I did not hear from them, apart from that, in class we were learning how to look for jobs using the job connection on the school website, and also we worked on our resume and cover letter. Summary of March: in March I kept looking for places to apply using a website that one of my friends told me about called "indeed.com", this website had a lot of job offers posted, but many of them were seeking for people that either have a bachelor's degree or people that want to work full time, I applied to couple of places, I can't recall the names of the companies, but I remember that one of them was located in Patchogue, the other one was in Hempstead and the last one was near Green-lawn, one of them replied to me saying that they were currently not hiring interns, the other said they were reviewing my application and the last one did not replied at all, but at the end none of them contacted me back. In class we had a guest from career center that gave us advises in how to create a good resume, a good cover letter and also he was explaining how we should get prepared for an interview. And also during this month my cousin and I attended a job fair that was being held at Port Jefferson, in that job fair I talked to some people there and one of them said they were interested in getting a full time intern during the summer and gave me his card and told to contact him after I finish school so we could get to talk about the position and all the details about the job. Summary of April: In April I sent my resume to some places that I found on indeed.com, and one of them told me that they were looking for an intern but they wanted someone that was able to work more than 35 hours, and well I told them that it was impossible for me as I am a full time student plus I already have a full time job and asked them if I could work part time and they said that they needed someone that could work full time, aside from that I stayed in touch with the person I met at the job fair and I am planning to give him a call soon to talk about the position that he offered me back in March. In class we practiced the interview process and that was really fun and interesting, I learned a lot about it during the practice. Summary of May: This month I have not applied to any places but I've talked to the guy from the job fair and we'll meet at the end of May at the company to show me the place and explain to me what I'll be doing. In class we had a very interesting guest that talked a lot about his experience an explained us how the companies operate and how much experience he's been earning throughout his career, he answered a lot of the questions we had, he was really helpful. Overall I learned many things in this course during this semester even though I couldn't get a job I feel that the time I spent in this course was worth it, it taught me a lot.
