These are the details of the position: Support Engineer Intern Position Summary: We are a technology managed services and consulting company located in Nassau County, LI. We service the SMB market in the LI/NYC areas and are offering an internship which offers practical work experience and an introduction to the multi-faceted world of IT Managed Services. We are seeking self-motivated candidates with a “Can Do” attitude who can appreciate the challenging yet rewarding work environment that we offer. You must work well as a member of a team, as well as independently on assignments. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Managed Services field. We place a high emphasis on Customer Service, so a calm, friendly demeanor is beneficial. Duties & Responsibilities: * Respond to user requests for service, troubleshoot problems and help develop solutions. * Support PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software. * Perform minor repairs to equipment * Identify and report system issues to vendors. Monitor and test resolution of those issues sent to vendors. * Monitor antivirus software and updates and repair computers infected with spyware, adware and/or viruses. * Monitor backup systems and procedures to ensure data security. * Record activities, solutions and other responses to request for service in a ticketing system. * Assist in maintaining inventory records and documentation for equipment. * Contribute to technical documentation and participate in policy, procedure, and standards development. * Assist users in determining appropriate software solutions to meet needs. * Develop and provide user training for basic hardware and software use. * Provide backup technical support for network equipment (switches, routers etc…) * Maintains open communication and positive working relationship with staff. * Perform other tasks/projects as assigned. Qualifications: * Must have an automobile and be willing to travel throughout Nassau, Suffolk, and the 5 boroughs of NYC * Minimum of one year of college or trade school education in a business, communications or computer related field. * A basic understanding of computer network cabling and network file and print services. * Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment. * Excellent oral and written communications skills * Excellent customer service skills * Able to interact effectively with all levels of internal company and customer contacts * Able to work in a team environment and as a self-starter; be able to work well independently with little supervision
