TO: Prof. Martin FROM: Ryan Rosario SUBJECT: Final Report DATE: 2017 May. 10 I had a great time working at the Town of Islip. This was my first time in the field and my first time in an office space, so aside from learning more about what will be expected of me in this profession, I also learned a good deal on office etiquette. I spent the duration of my internship in the Help Desk office in the Town of Islip's IT department. I assisted the employees there in troubleshooting, configuring, and deploying. I shadowed them during their day to day, and rode with them on their trips offsite, learning much on network infrastructure and implementation in the process. I learned about some applications used in the professional setting, such as WhatsUp Gold which provides convenient monitoring on the connectivity status of network devices and servers, and Kaseya which we used to remote into workstations. I was given examples of viable vendors like Ubiquiti who offers effective wireless APs for a modest price. I was shown tips on virtualization, Mainframe backups, VPN firewalls, and redundancy. I even learned a little bit of data-basing, and programming. I had a fun semester, and I am very grateful for the experience my Internship gave me.
